Project Description
Barnard Fire Station
Barnard, Vermont
This modern wood framed fire station facility was built to serve the Barnard community now and for many years into the future. It includes a large meeting/training room, equipment room, and apparatus bays to accommodate municipal fire, rescue and EMT services.
Description: General Construction
Completed: September 2017
Owner: Town of Barnard
Architect: Philip Maynes, AIA
Unique Attributes: This new fire station was constructed adjacent to the historic Barnard Town Hall a stones throw from the historic town center and across from an old meeting house. It was important that this new facility “fit in” to it’s built surroundings and design was modeled after a classic Vermont village building, complete with a cupola. The building itself meets the functional demands of a rural fire department, and was built with longevity and energy efficiency in mind, including roof mounted PV solar panels.
