Project Description

Citizen Cider Production

Facility

Burlington, Vermont

This project involved a complete interior renovation of a 20,300 sf high bay steel framed building.  The updated building houses expanded production facilities for this rapidly growing hard cider producer, including a new cider press, storage tanks, conveyor systems, cleaning equipment and refrigerated dry storage chambers.  Exterior work included drainage improvements and a reworked loading dock.

Delivery Method:  Negotiated Construction Management

Completed:  May 2018

Owner:  Citizen Cider

Architect:  Smith Alvarez Sienkiewycz

To meet requirements for highly regulated climate control in multiple chambers, all existing fiberglass blanket insulation in the high bay ceiling and walls was removed and replaced with a combination of rigid and spray foam insulation.  Approximately 5,000 sf of slab was removed to allow pipe trenching and structural support for storage tanks and process equipment.  The press area was finished with epoxy grouted hexagonal clinker tile.
